Emma Chase is a Norman based artist who spent most of her childhood on a small family farm in Northeast Oklahoma. Her artistic practice serves as a meditative means for reconnection and reconciliation regarding her Southern upbringing.
As an interdisciplinary artist, her practice involves a variety of mediums with an emphasis on ceramics and ink illustrations. Her current work focuses on the exploration and celebration of feminine forms and the concept of sisterhood.
Ceramic design allows her to satiate her appetite for control and precision, while simultaneously learning to trust the fluidity of clay. Additionally, illustrative work allows her to beckon a sort of playfulness and intuitiveness through choices of color and mark making.
